位於風景優美的陽明山半山腰，亦為國內系所最多的綜合大學，擁有最豐富的多領域教學資源。
本系為國內第一個開放不須考術科可入學的音樂系(發分入學B組)。
112學年度起，申請入學亦開放B組(不採計術科)入學。
為國內第一所開設應用音樂組的大專院校音樂學系。
唯一大一、大二主修個別課為一堂1.5小時，厚植同學專業樂器演奏能力。
擁有國內最早成立的巴洛克樂團及最完整的原樣巴洛克樂器。
本系(所)以培育與時俱進，職場接軌之實用音樂人才為辦學宗旨，然而學生品德與學識之養成，亦為教育之重要環節。
有鑑於此，學生學習與處事自發性之訓練、獨立思考能力之培養、個人演奏技巧與專業學識之養成、學生國際觀與成熟視野之培育、數位科技之廣泛深化運用，場職接軌能力之強化訓練，進而達到全方位教育之目的，實為本系所辦學特色。
Located on the beautiful half-mountain slope of Yangmingshan, it is also the comprehensive university in Taiwan with the most diverse departments, offering the richest and most extensive multidisciplinary teaching resources.
Our department was the first in Taiwan to open admission without the need for academic subject exams (Admission Track B).
Starting from the academic year 112, admission applications are also open for Admission Track B (without consideration of academic subject exams).
We were the first institution in Taiwan to establish an Applied Music Division within a college-level music department.
In the first and second years of study, students have individual 1.5-hour lessons, which significantly enhance their proficiency in playing musical instruments.
We have the earliest-established Baroque orchestra in Taiwan and the most complete collection of authentic Baroque instruments.
The primary mission of our department is to cultivate practical musicians who are up-to-date with the industry and aligned with the workplace. However, fostering students' character and knowledge is also a crucial aspect of our education.
In light of this, our educational focus includes training students in self-directed learning and decision-making, fostering independent thinking, cultivating individual performance skills and professional knowledge, nurturing students' international perspectives and mature outlooks, extensive and advanced utilization of digital technology, and strengthening the ability to adapt to the professional field. These efforts aim to achieve a comprehensive education and represent the distinctive characteristics of our department.
